I recently speed up my participation with the social networking sites. May be this is because of the increasing influence of these sites over the web. Second and more valid reason is social networking being a tool for Search Engine Marketing. There are many web sites available to support your appetite. Friendfeed already have 62 services and there can be more not supported yet.
It was very difficult to manage all the sites personally and updates on them. So I did a little trick to make some sort of topology for my social networking web sites.
Twitter gives me mobile phone support, so this is a good starting point. It gives me more mobility and freedom to update even when I’m on the run.
Facebook, I have installed facebook application for twitter which allows twitter to update my facebook status. This can be with your permission or you can also set it for auto updates from your twitter account
digg, gives you a browser plug in to be used, you can just click the digg button on your browser to get through.
diigo, is also a book marking site and is very useful to me. it also has a browser plug in, which is very interesting. You can highlight any sentence, pick a picture or bookmark the whole page.
DISQUS is a commenting system, and is now integrated in many recent blogs. It makes the commenting process easy and no need to fill the whole form again every time. You can also follow your friends or make some good fans.
Blogs generate feeds which can also be configured with friendfeed and can be sent to further site from there.
FriendFeed looks like a hub, it supports almost all the famous social networking sites. I have used it very correctly for providing a gateway to almost all the services. Twitter send tweets directly to friendfeed. Similarly all other services updates it regularly as well. It also has a powerful plug in for browser so I can send feeds to friendfeed just through a click and it can be tweeted instantly through the network.
So, just by updating at twitter through self phone I can be heard on almost all the sites. Hope this works for you too.
